Portarlington Win the 2011 Michael Moore Cup Final

Congratulations to our Michael Moore team on winning the Cup on Saturday evening last, 3rd September. Very well done to the Team Managers - Michael "The Pro" Murphy and Marty Fitzpartick; and to all the Players - Jerry Savage, John McCarthy, John Maycock, Cam McGettrick, Gerry Kelly, Eamon Murphy, Noel Coughlan, Norman Morton, Sean Smyth and Seamus Brereton; also, to all the Caddies and Supporters.
Hard luck to the Royal Tara team, who put up a valiant fight on the evening, whilst attaining the remarkable achievement of competing in their fourth Final in five years, winning the Cup in 2007 and 2008 and losing out to Esker Hills in last year's Final.
Seven teams have now won the Cup twice - Portarlington, Royal Tara, Bodenstown, Kiltiernan, Westmanstown, Black Bush and Nenagh. However, no Club has yet achieved a third win. Portarlington previously won the Cup in 1998, following on from defeat in the 1997 Final. Well done again to all the Team - what a sweet way to finish off our Inter-Club campaigns for 2011 !!
